Borealis Restaurant, 2018

Facility was contracted to implement a range of architectural items designed by JLK Design Studio for Borealis Restaurant in London, progressing the initial concept designs to full working models before compiling a comprehensive drawing package for manufacture and assembly.

Inspired by the work of artist Harry Bertoia and his Sonambient collection, vertical patinated brass rods where chosen as a motif throughout the space, acting as dividing screens, balustrading around the spiral staircase and supports for shelving. The bar large outer bar finished with a fumed oak top, patinated brass corners and lava stone tiles was supported by a slot-together CNC routed MDF structure.

Adherence to building regulations was imperative and Facility provided a full calculation pack for signing off  spiral staircase, balustrading and a bench which cantilevered over a void in the ground floor slab.

Effective liaison with the lead architects and project manager was required throughout as well as integration with the building contractor and other sub-contractors, such as the catering equipment and services within the bar area.
